Hey friends,
If you've been curious about Botox but weren't sure where to start, you're in good company. It's one of the questions we hear most. So let's walk through the basics, plain and simple.
What Botox does
Botox is a prescription treatment that relaxes the small muscles behind certain expression lines. When those muscles relax, the lines on top of them soften. The most common spots are:
The "11s", the two vertical lines between your eyebrows
Forehead lines, the horizontal ones that show up when you raise your brows
Crow's feet at the outer corners of your eyes
It doesn't change who you are or freeze your face. Done well, people just think you look rested.
So what's a "unit"?
Botox is measured and priced by the unit, a small, precise dose. Each treatment area takes a certain number of units, and that number depends on your muscles, your goals, and how natural you want the result to look.
That's why there's no one-size price. Two people treating the same area might need different amounts. At your appointment, we'll look at the areas you care about, talk through what you're hoping for, and give you a clear number before anything happens. No surprises.
What the appointment looks like
A quick conversation. We review your health history and talk about your goals.
Treatment. A few small injections with a very fine needle. Most people say it feels like a quick pinch.
Back to your day. There's no real downtime. Many folks come in on a lunch break.
Afterward, keep your head upright for about four hours, don't rub or massage the treated areas, and skip the hard workout until tomorrow.
When you'll see results
Botox isn't instant. You'll usually start noticing a change within a few days, and full results can take up to two weeks. Results typically last around three to four months, and then you can decide if you'd like to keep them up.
That two-week window is why timing matters. Come in mid-November, and you're looking refreshed right around Thanksgiving, well before the family photos and the Christmas cards.
Is it right for me?
Botox is a medical treatment, so it isn't for everyone. It's not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and some health conditions and medications matter. Side effects are usually mild and short-lived, like a little redness, swelling, or bruising where the injections went, but we'll go over everything with you first. That's part of the conversation.
