Hey, we get it. You hear "vitamin shot" and wonder which one, what it's for, and whether it's worth it.
Here's a simple rundown of the injections we offer at both of our offices, what each one is, and who tends to ask for it.
Why an injection instead of a pill?
When you take a vitamin by mouth, it has to make it through your digestive system first, and how much your body absorbs can vary a lot from person to person. An injection delivers the nutrient directly. Some people simply prefer it, and some people have a harder time absorbing certain vitamins, like B12, from food and supplements.
Methylated B12
B12 helps your body make red blood cells and supports energy and nerve health. We use methylcobalamin, a form your body can put to work right away.
Who asks for it: folks who feel run down, people following a weight-loss plan, and anyone whose labs show B12 on the low side. Low B12 is more common as we get older and with certain medications, like metformin.
Lipo-Mino
Lipo-Mino is a blend of B vitamins and amino acids, including methionine, inositol, and choline, which your body uses in how it processes fat.
Who asks for it: it's a favorite with our weight-loss patients, used alongside a real nutrition and activity plan, not instead of one.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D supports bone health, muscle function, and your immune system. Your skin makes it from sunshine, which is why so many people run low in fall and winter, when Oklahoma days get shorter and we're all spending more time inside.
Who asks for it: anyone heading into the darker months, and people whose labs show low levels.
NAD
NAD is a coenzyme every cell in your body uses to turn food into energy. Your natural levels tend to drop as you age. The research is still developing, but NAD has become popular for energy and healthy-aging support.
Who asks for it: people who feel like their get-up-and-go has gotten up and gone.
Glutathione
Glutathione is an antioxidant your body makes on its own. It's part of how your cells handle everyday stress.
Who asks for it: a lot of folks add it to their routine as part of an overall wellness plan.
Not sure which one fits you?
That's what we're here for. Every person is different, and we'll review your health history and goals before recommending anything. Vitamin injections support a healthy lifestyle. They don't replace one, and they aren't a substitute for medical care.
